Nicole Allen Cerrito is a member of the firm's Business Department and
concentrates her practice in labor and employment law. She counsels clients
on a variety of employment-related matters, including discrimination,
sexual harassment, retaliation, leave and accommodation requests, employment
contracts, severance agreements, workplace investigations, employee discipline
and discharge, and wage and hour issues. Nicole represents clients in
federal and state courts and before the EEOC and Division of Human Rights.
She also reviews, revises and drafts employee handbooks, policies and
procedures.
In addition, Nicole provides guidance on issues arising under the Employee
Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 ("ERISA") including the
Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1985 ("COBRA").
Nicole has also assisted businesses in securing state and federal certification
with the Minority/Women Owned Business Enterprise and Disadvantaged Business
Enterprise.
Nicole received her B.A. from Ithaca College in 2000 and her J.D. from
City University of New York School of Law in 2003. She is admitted to
the state bars of New York and Connecticut, as well as the U.S. District
Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of New York, District of
Connecticut and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Nicole is a member of the New York State and American Bar Associations,
the Onondaga County Bar Association and volunteers with the Onondaga County
Bar Association's Volunteer Lawyers Project.
Prior to joining Mackenzie Hughes, Nicole practiced ERISA litigation
with a law firm in New York City.
