Mark W. Wasmund joined Mackenzie Hughes in 2010 as a partner in the business
department. He focuses on all aspects of real estate transactions, representing
buyers, sellers and lending institutions in both commercial and residential
transactions. Mark's practice includes extensive work in landlord/tenant
matters. He acts as examining counsel for several title insurance providers,
and counsels clients in the formation of business entities and the purchase
and sale of closely held businesses. He provides counsel on a wide range
of licensing matters and represents clients before administrative agencies.
Mark graduated with a BA from Syracuse University in 1981 and obtained
his JD from the Syracuse University College of Law in 1984. After graduation,
Mark became the first Risk Manager for the City of Myrtle Beach, SC. Mark
returned to the Syracuse area to raise his family and enter the private
practice of law. In 1988, he opened a general practice in Syracuse and
expanded to include a Cazenovia office in 1994.
Mark is a member of the Onondaga and New York State Bar associations.
He serves as an arbitrator in Syracuse City Court and for the Onondaga
County Bar Association in their fee dispute arbitration program. Mark
has also volunteered as a judge for the Syracuse University College of
Law moot court program.
Mark is a member of the Onondaga County Bar Association Board of Directors.
He is also an arbitrator for the Fee Dispute Program for both the OCBA
and the Syracuse City Court. Mark serves as treasurer and as board member
of the Fair Housing Council of Central New York. He previously served
on the board of directors of the National Kidney Foundation of CNY. Mark
was on the board of the Fabius Pompey Recreation Organization for ten
years and continues to volunteer for several Fabius Pompey area civic
and youth organizations.
Mark lives in Fabius with his wife, Maryam. In his spare time he enjoys
coaching and playing basketball. He has been the volunteer assistant varsity
boys basketball coach for Fabius Pompey since 2002 and has coached AAU
basketball for Central Western at many age levels. When not otherwise
involved, he tries to follow the endeavors of his quadruplets who are
currently attending Hobart William Smith College or visiting his older
son who resides in Cambridge, MA.
