Associate Attorney – Recent Graduate

March 17, 2023

Mackenzie Hughes LLP, one of the leaders in the Upstate New York legal community since 1884, has an opening for an associate attorney.  Throughout our history we have stayed true to our founders’ goal of being more than just good lawyers;  we are individuals who are active in our community, with values as strong as our knowledge of the law.

Mackenzie Hughes offers an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to start their career at a firm that will give you experience in most areas of law and the chance to grow as an attorney.  Several of our partners started their careers at Mackenzie Hughes right out of law school and others are lateral hires that have become partners.  Mackenzie Hughes LLP includes highly responsive partners, associates and legal support staff.  Our collaborative approach allows for you to work in various areas of law while gaining valuable experience and delivering high quality assistance and insight to our clients.

Mackenzie Hughes has opportunities in our litigation, business, and trusts/estates departments.  Depending on the department, candidates will research various issues; collaborate with other attorneys about strategies; help manage cases and transactions  from inception through completion; attend court conferences, oral arguments, depositions, mediations and trials; be responsible for reviewing, negotiating, amending, and finalizing agreements and other documents related to business and real estate matters; and work on various aspects of clients’ planning.

Candidates must have completed a J.D. program no later than May 2023 and be eligible to sit for the New York State bar exam after graduation, have excellent research and communication skills; be able to function effectively in a team-oriented environment; demonstrate high level organizational skills for prioritizing workload; and demonstrate ability to absorb, process and understand new information rapidly.

We offer a competitive compensation package including performance bonus.  Employee benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401k, and profit-sharing retirement plan.
