Mackenzie Hughes LLP Hires Ben Walsh to Serve as Business Development Director

Ben Walsh will be joining Mackenzie Hughes LLP as the firm’s business development director. In this role, Walsh will develop, coordinate, and execute strategies to support and expand existing client relationships and attract new business opportunities for the firm. Drawing upon his extensive non-profit and public sector experience, Walsh will guide the firm’s government and community relations efforts and provide policy and project management consulting services.

Walsh has served as the deputy commissioner in the Department of Neighborhood & Business Development of the City of Syracuse under Mayor Stephanie Miner since 2010, and concurrently worked as the executive director of the City of Syracuse Industrial Development Agency (SIDA). Prior to that, he worked as the director of Urban Initiatives at the Metropolitan Development Association of Syracuse and Central New York – now CenterState CEO. “Bringing Ben to Mackenzie Hughes is a huge opportunity for us,” said Stephen Helmer, partner and chairman of the Mackenzie Hughes Executive Committee. “Ben is as close to and respected by as many CNY businesses as anyone in the community, and we look forward to having him on our team as we look for new business opportunities.”

Walsh holds a master’s of public administration (MPA) degree from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University as well as a bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College. He currently serves as president of the Board of Trustees at the Gifford Foundation and is actively involved in other local organizations.
