Mackenzie Hughes LLP is proud to announce the election of Christopher A. Powers to partner and the recent additions of attorneys Jillian L. Brodock and Deven D. Desai to the firm.
Christopher A. Powers joined the firm in 2017 and has since developed a strong litigation practice focusing on medical malpractice defense, appellate work and business litigation. A cum laude graduate of Syracuse University College of Law, he also holds a master’s in media management from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and a bachelor’s degree in communication studies from the College of Wooster. Prior to practicing law, he spent a decade in the communications industry, including roles in public relations and editorial positions.
Powers has served as a summer law clerk and academic-year extern for U.S. Magistrate Judges in the Northern District of New York. He is currently vice president of the Syracuse Parks Conservancy and has been recognized for his legal scholarship and community service.
The firm also welcomed Jillian L. Brodock as an associate in December 2024. She joins the Business Department, where she concentrates her practice in real estate, business and corporate law. Brodock assists clients with residential real estate transactions, entity formation and general business matters. She is a graduate of the Syracuse University College of Law, where she participated in the Cold Case Justice Initiative and worked in the Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic. She also holds a bachelor’s degree from Marist College.
In August 2024, Mackenzie Hughes welcomed Deven D. Desai as an associate in the Business Department. Desai focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, securities, commercial development, corporate governance, business formations and contract law. He earned a dual JD/MBA degree from Quinnipiac University and a bachelor’s in business from Babson College. Desai was admitted to the New York State Bar in January 2025. A Rome, N.Y., native, he is committed to supporting businesses throughout upstate New York.
